Every year, many students graduate from Senior High School in with the hopes of furthering their education to enable them pursue their dream careers. There are many others who although have had admissions to various secondary schools and have started schooling, have become victims of circumstance which has rendered them struggling to make it through school.
Situations like these have necessitated the facilitation of a scholarship scheme by Empowering Africa Inc. who are an organization with the aim of tackling inequalities in education around the world.
This scholarship is for the 2020/2021 academic year and for KNUST (Kwame Nkrumah Univeristy of Science and Technology) undergraduate (1st, 2nd and 3rd year) and prospective undergraduate students who are brilliant but needy. The scholarship is designed for students pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Applicants being sought after are those who are academically strong, service minded and looking to making a difference with their communities.
Meanwhile, International students, fee-paying students and Part-time students are not eligible for this scholarship. In addition, students who have already enrolled at KNUST must have a B average or (Second Class Upper) as minimum requirement. Continuing students who are beneficiaries of other scholarships are also not eligible for this scholarship.
Moreover, applicants have to demonstrate that they have a high commitment level towards higher education and high level of academic achievement through their test scores, grades, references and from references. In addition, applicants are also to exhibit that they just don’t just want to better themselves but their communities by making a positive impact as well. This can be seen in the applicant’s description of extra-curricular activities/volunteer work, their essays and their references.

- WASSCE Certificate/results
- Curriculum Vitae
- Recommendation letters
- Awards or certificates (if any).
- Prospective continuing student applicants should also add their complete University Academic Transcripts, (including current results)
